John BIGELOW, from Pugwash to Auckland
1592C.23 John 7 BIGELOW, son of John 6 ( Amasa 5 , Isaac 4, Isaac 3, Samuel 2, John1) and Sarah T. (NEWCOMB) BIGELOW, was born 10 March 1803.
He married 31 January 1833 Jane Smith (she was born 1817 and died 18 April 1835).
In March 1843, John married (2) Mary Rockwell, who was 43 at time of marriage.
Two children by 1st marriage and five children by second marriage.
They lived in Pugwash, Nova Scotia. He died in Auckland, New Zealand; 05 August 1893 aged 72.
In 1849 marriage to Mary Rockwell, born 1800 and died Aukland, New Zealand, 31 October 1883 aged 60.
In 1859 the family left Pugwash for Australasia on the George Henderson (See earlier posts).

In Auckland, John set up a shipbuilding business in St Mary's Bay (between Westhaven and the Harbour Bridge) and built ships for the colonial trade with Australia.
