Europe 2008 Part 2

Central London

While we were in the area we visited St Paul's Cathedral itself, especially the whispering gallery, and from there up we climbed over 400 steps
to the outside balcony as high as it is possible
to go, for a magnificent view of the city on a
sunny morning.

After that we needed a refresher so we stopped down in the crypt for a coffee.

While in that part of town we went for a flight
on the London Eye, the big ferris wheel that can
be seen from all over town and which gives
another impressive view of the region.

Close up, the modules are big, holding some dozens of people each, moving slowly round the circle and giving plenty of time to take in all the cityscape. You can see St Paul's in the photo here, taken when our module was at the top of its flight.

Just over the Millennium Bridge are the Globe Theatre (see photo) and the Tate Modern Art Gallery.

We popped into the Tate Modern briefly, but the Globe was not open at the times we were strolling past.
