In Memoriam: Judy at Primary School

Judy turned 5 at the end of 1964. Here she is in the centre of her circle, On the right are two Sanson children, and the other two boys are from the Don Eade family. They are all standing in the garden of our house at Agartala.

Judy was fortunate to have these friends; at this stage her Mum was starting an English-language kindergarten in the town, and Judy and Terry would go with her each day.

Mairangi Bay 1965
The next year we returned to New Zealand, and Judy picked up her schooling at Murrays Bay School. We lived in a little house near the Mairangi Bay shops until we bought a place half-way up Matipo Road.

The latest excitement that Spring was "the Sound of Music" and we all went to see it together.

In 1966, the new Mairangi Bay School was opened just along the street from our house, so from then the children could trot off to school when they heard the bell ring!

A couple of years later we shifted in to Takapuna and Judy and Terry went to Takapuna School, which was very convenient as their Butcher grandparents lived just around the corner.

One holiday, Grandma Gaze and Auntie Catherine took Judy and a couple of cousins for a trip up North, and here she is at Cape Reinga.
